Digital Asset Claims OSINT Research
Open-source intelligence, or OSINT, is the discipline of gathering information from sources that are legally and publicly accessible — corporate registries, court filings, domain records, social platforms, archived web pages and published media — and correlating them into a structured picture of an entity, individual or transaction. It is the first layer of most investigations because it establishes context before any technical trace begins.
Source classes
Corporate and registry records
Company registries, beneficial-ownership filings, insolvency notices and regulatory registers are checked against the names and entities referenced in a case, establishing incorporation dates, directorships and jurisdictional footprint where publicly filed.
Web and platform footprints
Domain registration history, cached and archived pages, forum posts and social media activity are reviewed for consistent identifiers — usernames, email patterns, wallet addresses referenced in public posts — that reappear across otherwise unconnected platforms.
Published media and court records
News reporting, regulatory enforcement notices and public court filings are searched for prior references to the entities under review, since repeat conduct is frequently documented before it reaches a private case file.
Method
Every source used in OSINT research is logged with its retrieval date, original URL or filing reference and an archived copy, so a finding can be checked back against the exact material that produced it rather than a paraphrase. Where two sources conflict, both are recorded rather than the more convenient one being preferred.
OSINT output feeds directly into entity mapping and is cross-checked against infrastructure and IP intelligence before either is treated as corroborated.
Limitations
Public-source material can be outdated, incomplete or deliberately misleading. A name match, a shared username or a single public post is treated as a lead, not a conclusion, until it is corroborated against an independent source class through evidence verification.
